AMERICAN FOREIGN INVESTMENTS
TOTAL AT END OF YEAR (Rec. January 6, 7.15 p.m.) Washington, January 5. The Department of Commerce announces that American investments abroad had reached a total of thirteen thousand. million dollars at the end of 1927, exclusive of- about ten thousand millions of wartime debts. Foreign issues publicly offered in the United States during 1927 totalled approximately 1,575 million dollars. It is the fifth time that flotations for any vc ar have passed the thousand million dollar mark, other instances being in 1916, 1924, 1925. and 1926.
