SENTENCED TO ADDITIONAL SIX .MONTHS.

Victor Hugh Greaves was charged in tho Magistrate’s Court before Mr. J. H Salmon, S.M., with being an incorrigible rogue and vagabond in that he escaped from Wi Tako prison before tho expiration of his term. Detective-Sergeant Holmes said that accused was sentenced in July, 1924. to two years’ imprisonment on ten charges of breaking and entering. He was placed in charge of the boot repair shop, and on January 1, 1925. he escaped by breaking down a wall of the shop and then stealing a suit of clothes. Accused next went to Australia, and was arrested there and convicted on six charges of theft from dwellings. He was sentenced Io three years’ hard labour. On his discharge from prison he was placed on board tho s.s. Maunganui and brought over to Wellington, where he wns arrested b.v Detective Bayliss on tho arrival of'the vessel. Accused was ordered to servo an additional six months’ imprisonment after the expiration Of tho completion of his original term.
