TUBE RAILWAYS
SYSTEM PROPOSED FOR MANCHESTER
Rugby, October 11
It is proposed to equip Manchester with a system of underground tube railways similar to that of London. The proposal has been before a special committee of the City Council, which has now submitted its report to the Finance Committee. These railways will cost about a quarter of a million sterling per mile to build, and the total cost is estimated at twenty-five millions. There is onlv some doubt whether the tube is a -payable proposition.—British Official Wireless.
