For the opening of the sixth ,Dail Eireann the galleries were crowded, but there were no scenes similar to those before the general election. The Fianna Fail Party members again took the oath. Mr. W. T. Cosgrave was re-elected President of the Executive Council, the voting being 76 to 70. There were no other nominations. All the Farmers and Independents supported the nomination. Labour and the Fianna Fail opposed it. Mr. Redmond ano the other National League members abstained from voting. Professor Hayes was re-elected Speaker, amid applause from all sides, though Mr. De Valera unsuccessfullyproposed to reduce his present salary from £l7OO to £lOOO. Mr. Ernest Blvthe, Attorney-Gen-eral, informed Mr. Redmond that there was no chance of a repeal of the Public Safety Act.
