Lord Walerau of Uffculme, who has come out to New Zealand to act as assistant private secretary to His Excellency the Governor-General, has arrived in Wellington. The Hon. A. D. McLeod (Minister of Lands) returned to Wellington yesterday from the Wairarapa and resumed his duties.

Sir P'rederick Greer, one of the Judges of the King’s Bench Division, has been appointed Lord lusticc of Appeal, in place of Sir John Eldon Bankes, who has resigned, says a British official wireless message.

Renner, of Wellington College, has been appointed headmaster of Rongotai Boys’ College. Mr. Joseph Piper, who has been indisposed for the last two months, has resigned from his position as a member of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board. The resignation was accepted with regret, members expressing appreciation of services rendered by Mr. Piper. In accordance with the constitution of the board the chairman called for nominations to fill the vacancy, and Mr. E. Hogg was unanimously elected.

Mr. D. C. E. Blake, the governing director of the Distributing Agency, Ltd., arrived in Auckland by the Rotorua on Sunday, and returned to Wellington yesterday morning, after a tour of the world, which embraced Australia, Great Britain, the Continent and the United States.

Mr. B. H. Andrew, manager of the Central Heating Company, left for America by the Makura on Tuesday to attend the conference of heating engineers, which is held annually at the University, Illinois, The Rev. W. J. Hands, notification of whose appointment .as Archdeacon of Fiji has just been received, was educated at Durham University, England. He came to New Zealand in 1912 as vicar of -Tinui (Wairarapa). He was next appointed vicar of Waverley, and later vicar of Khandallah. He left the latter place in 1921 for Fiji, where he was appointed vicar of Suva, where he has remained ever since.

The Rev. W. Robb last night at a great gathering of Presbvferiaus and other friends, on the occasion of his retirement from the ministry of St. Andrew’s Church, Blenheim, after 45 years’ pastorate, was presented with a substantial cheque, and Mrs. Robb with a silver entree dish. Great enthusiasm was shown and regrets at the loss the congregation would suffer at the severance of their intimate relations were expressed.—Press Assn. Mr. W. E.
