PAPER PULP

A FUTURE FOR THE DOMINION

The bright future that has been forecasted for the Dominion as a paperpulp manufacturing country was referred to by the Minister of Finance (Hon. W. D. Stewart) in the House of Representatives yesterday. Several people interested in the business had visited New Zealand within the last year and carried out investigations, and the opinion had been expressed that no doubt the Dominion would have a great paper pulp industry some day; that, according to its size, it was destined to become one of the best centres in the world for paper pulp production. Although nothing had been achieved regarding the manufacture of pulp in New Zealand, a great many people were nibbling at the question.
