HIGHWAY PAVING
MASTERTON-CARTERTON ROAD Carterton, October 12. As the necessary money lias been arranged for, it is expected that a commencement will be made this week with the work of laying bitumen on that portion of the main road between Masterton and Carterton which is yet un paved. ; , The chairman of the Wairarapa South County Council (Mr. T. V. Moore) advises that everything is practically in readiness for the work to be proceeded with and completed this summer. A gang of from 20 to 25 men will be engaged on the undertaking throughout the summer, and if the work of metal-crushing, which has been facilitated through the installa tion of an electric motor, can proceed at full capacity, then it is expected that the road’ will be speedily completed. -1
