Pahiatua, October 12. The annual meeting of the Mangatainoka Tennis Club' was held on Monday night. Mr. F. E. Ward presided The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The financial position of the club was considered very satisfactory, there, being a credit balance of £23. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. F. G. Thompson; 'ice-presidents. Messrs. E. L, Harvey. F. E. Ward. M. O’Brien; committee. Mesdames N. Bicknell, R. Pilkington, Miss E. S Britland, Messrs J Swanuey. Hunt. Pilkington. H. Ward: solo selector. Mr F G. Thompson; secretary, Mrs. F. G Thompson: treasurer. Mr C. Ttoy The’official openina was fixed for Labour Day Mr D. O'Rourke, of Napier is on a visit to Pahiatua. . The executive'of tho Bush Ladies Hockey Association met Inst night, when there were present: Messrs. R Cavanagh (who presided). V Scott... W. A. Cittadini. A R Cliffc and J. A. Walsh A statement of the cxnenditure in connection with the association’s representation (two teams) at the recent Dominion hoekey tournament, was presented The exnenses exceeded £5O. and it was resolved to write to the various associated clubs asking their assistance . and cooperation in holding a "shon” in Pahiatua in the third week of November with n view to augine"*ing the finances of the association. The opinion was ex pressed at the meeting that, the exnenses were excessive, and that, it would be necessary to exercise more caution in the future. After an unusually dry spell of weather for. this time of the year, fairly heavy rain set in last night, filling tanks to overflowing, and freshening pastures The ruin was badly needed.
