SOCIAL NOTES

TOWN AND COUNTRY Miss M. Speedy, of Dannevirke, will arrive in New Zealand next week after spending a holiday in Honolulu. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Breakwell have returned to Dannevirke after a short visit to Napier. Mr. and Mrs. W. Harvey, of Napier, have returned from a visit to the Morere hot springs. Mrs. 31. Wilson and Miss Ada Wilson, late of Napier, have left to take up their residence in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. Devine, of Palmerston North, will leave England this week on their return to New Zealand. Mr. and Mrs. Durrant, of Taihape, accompanied by Miss Durrant, are visiting Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. R. Jamieson, of Dunedin, were recent visitors to Napier. Mrs. W. L. Fitzherbert and Miss M. Fitzherbert, of Palmerston North, are spending a few days in Napier. Miss Barbara Gould, of Christchurch, has been the guest of Miss A. Barton, of Featherston. Mrs. Darien Warburton, of Kiwitea, is staying at Dannevirke, where she is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Hartgill. Mrs. A. F. Fitzherbert, of Palmerston North, is spending a few days in Marton. Mrs. H. Akers and Miss M. Akers, of Rangiotu, have returned from a trip to Australia. Mrs. R. Douglas, of Palmerston North, is a visitor to Masterton. Mrs. Edgar has returned to Masterton from a prolonged visit to New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Mclntosh, .Greymouth, are the guests of Nurse Mclntosh, of Masterton. Miss Sylvia Taylor has returned to Pahiatua from'a visit to Masterton. Miss Mortimer, of England, who has been the guest of Mrs. E. Riddiford, Masterton, is at present visiting the South Island. On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. H. C. Robinson, of Masterton, gave a party in honour of Mrs. Davies, who will leave shortly for England. Mrs. Robinson received her guests in a black frock with Oriental embroidery and a Black hat, while Mrs. Davies wore a frock of navy blue and cherry, with hat to match. Among the guests were Mrs. J. Caselberg, Mrs. Low, Mrs. MacKenzie Douglas, Moser, Mrs. Oliver Bunny, Mrs. Graham, Mrs. Montgomery, Mrs. S. R. Gawitli, Mrs. Irving, Mrs. Jordan, Mrs. Alfred Caselberg, Mrs. Boddington, Mrs. McDiarmid, Mrs. Clarke, Mrs. Clarry, Mrs. Ahrens, Mrs. George Sellar, Mrs. Baird, Mrs. Jack Broad, Mrs. Rutherford, Mrs. Peter Gordon, Mrs. Norman James, Mrs. Dougal Thomson, Miss Alice Payton, Misses Robieson, and Miss Cameron. Mrs. Walker, who has been relieving at the Foxton School, lias been transferred to Ashhurst. MADAME MENERE’S THANKS.
