POWER CUT OFF
STONE-THROWING THE CAUSE
Feilding, October 12. A lengthy interruption in the electric power supply in Feilding took place this morning, lasting from 7.55 a.in. until 9.32 a.m. The interruption was traced to broken and damaged bushings in a transformer, which had been broken by stones thrown at them. Stones were found on tho transformer platform, and it was the opinion of the mechanics that the damage was done in dry weather and that the early rain which fell this morning caused a short circuit, with tho consequent failure* of current. Mr. W. A. Waters, power board engineer, who was in Feilding this morning, said that the failure of the supply had been caused by one of those foolish people whose actions could never, be anticipated. Only a few days ago, he said, someone threw a length of wire across a high tension circuit at Awahuri with the result that no fewer than 60 milking machines were put out of action during the busiest period of tho day. Extreme danger attended stone throwing, continued Mr. Waters, and if the people responsible would only realise what their actions would lead to, consumers would be assured of constant and uninterrupted service. »
