Meteorological Office, Wellington, October 10, 4 p.m. Present indications are for moderate to fresh southerly to westerly winds, northward of Kawhia and East Cape, and strong squally westerlies southwards. Weather fair to cloudy in the northern and East Coast districts, but changeable generally elsewhere, with rain in Westland and Otago, and scattered showers on the West Coast of the North Island. Barometer unsteady.
