FIGHTING ON FRONTIER

It is officially 'reported that Persian bands advanced as far as Trayazid, where they were met by Turkish troops. Fighting occurred, resulting in casualties on both sides, and the Persians capturing the Turkish advance guard, which included several officers. Another fight occurred at Mount Agridagh, the lurks inflicting severe Persian losses. The official organ “Hakimiet” urges the Government to act firmly and end the intolerable situation. It asserts that the frontier bands are protected by the local Persian authorities, and accuses the Teheran Government of not fulfilling its treaty engagements. Persian bands are also reported to have penetrated into Russian territory and pillaged several villages.— The Times ”
