REVIEWED BY PRESIDENT HINDENBURG PROOF OF EXISTENCE OF OLD SPIRIT Berlin, October 8. President Hindenburg;, in full FieldMarshal’s uniform, reviewed 80,000 exsoldiers from all over the country, carrying 3000 war-time standards, British correspondents comment that ■ it was. only necessary to witness the parade • and • read .the Press to realise that the old spirit, of which President Hindenburg spoke yesterday, is still alive. The culmination. of the review was the march past of uniformed groups, illustrating the development of the German army aom the. Teutonic Crusading Orders up to Imperial Grenadiers and storm troops of the Great War There was such tremendous enthusiasm when the latter groups passed that they • had to march again, saluting the Field-Mar-shal’s box. Included was the “Honour Company,” headed by 45 victorious colours of the old army, includin'’ a war-worn naval flag. Tlie Monarchist Press prints the following: “His Majesty the Kaiser has expressed his congratulations.”
