BRASS BANDS CARNIVAL
The Wellington District Bauds Associa tion will hold -v musical carnival duiing the coming week-end. The programme includes a military quickstep competition. which will be held at Athletic lark ou Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. All the leading bands of the Wellington district will take part, and as each band will be nl-aviug own choice music, the public may expect, a rare musical treat. Lieut.-Gol-oncl Beere. with tho assistance oi other staff officers, will have charge of the military side of tho competition, and Captain G Buckley, conductor of New Zealand’s champion band, will act as musical adjudicator. On Friday night at the Town Hall a boys’ solo competition will be held, and a demonstration ot juvenile choir work will be given by the Lyall Bay School combined choirs, also items by the Scots College pipe band.
