OFFICERS LOST

BY FRENCH CARGO BOAT Paris, October 2.

A French cargo boat put into Libreville almost without officers. The crew relate that when the vessel arrived at the Ivory Coast the chief engineer was stricken with a mysterious illness and died in a few hours. He was buried at sea. Next day the chief officer rushed the bridge without saying a word and shot the captain dead. Tlm wireless operator, hearing the shot, rushed out, and was also shot dead. The chief officer then dived into the sea and was drowned. It is believed that he went mad owing to sunstroke.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
