“TIME I TOOK A PULL!”
DRUNKEN MOTORIST ASKS . FOR A CHANCE Dominion Special Service, Christchurch, September 13. “It is time that I was taking a pull. Just give me a show?’ With these words George Nevell admitted the error of his ways in the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. E. D. Mosier, S.M., 10-day. Nevell was charged with being in charge of a motor-car while in a state of mtoxication. He pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Mathew said that accused, in company with two other intoxicated persons, was in Riccarton Road with his car last night. He endeavoured to crank the machine and fell over. He was then arrested. Accused said that he was a married man with five children, and he was willing to take out a prohibition order against himself. “You have been in trouble before, said the Magistrate. “Give me a show, Your Worship,” pleaded accused. Accused was convicted and fined £lO, in default one month’s imprisonment. He was also ordered to take out a prohibition order and renew it at the expiration of twelve months. “I shall do it right away,” he said as he left the dock.
