Burglars are reported to have been making endeavours to gain admisson to a number of city premises during the past few nights. A big shop Willis Street with valuable goods on shovv was an object of the would be thieves’ attentions. Marks of .1 jci on the front door are silent witnesses of an endeavour to force an entrance, •which, however, was unsuccessful. A sweets shop in Courtenay Place also was attacked, but an iron plate lining - S the inside' of Ute, proved had'sn’iashed the wooden unwelcome visitors vented u r : c iappointment by throwing through an upstairs back wnidow' " disastrous results to. a number of glass urns containing lollies.
