NEED FOR CAPITAL

GROWTH OF MANAWATU • POWER BOARD Palmerston North, September 12. The possibility that, before long the Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power Board will have to raise more money with which to’ carry on its work, was referred to by the chairman (Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P.) at a meeting of the board to-day. Mr. Nash pointed out that at present the board had £59,000 on which to come and go. It might not be necessary for more capital to be raised, but it would be a good sign were this necessary. This would give an indication of the great growth which was taking place in die district, and which affected in particular the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board. Since Mav of 1926 there had been a great increase in the number of consumers catered for bv die board. The business of the board had been going ahead very rapidly indeed, but Mr. Nash wished to remind members that it was not in the winter, but in the summer, that increases took place. He was satisfied. ’ owever, that before the end of the year the board would reach the amount which it required to carry on its business to the best advantage.
