CAR OVERTURNS IN GALE
1 TWO PASSENGERS IN HOSPITAL BT TZLEGBirH.—PBBSS ASSOCIATION. Dannevirke, September 12. A motor accident occurred on Sundav afternoon during a gale on a perfectly level and straight road a couple of miles from Dannevirke. The car was being driven by Percy Meakin, aged 17, and contained his two sisters, Alice and Gwen, also Misses P Haines and M. Mallett. While going along Laws Road the car suddenly swerved and overturned. The occupants were thrown out, and all were injured, except tlie driver, Gwen Meakin with a fractured arm and shock, and Miss Mallett with severe concussion and abrasions, being the worst sufferers, and at present they are in hospital. The car was greatly damaged, all the spokes being smashed in three of the wheels. It is surmised that the wiud got under the hood of the car, causing tlie driver to lose control momentarily.
