TOWN and country Mrs. E. McAllum, of Martinborough, has been visiting Lyall Bay, Wellington. Miss Alice Payton has returned to Masterton from a short visit to Wellington Mrs. McLean is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. H. Griffiths, of Martinborough. Miss Betty Donald, of Masterton, is visiting Wellington and is the guest of Miss Mantel Mrs. Haydon, of Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs. Eliott, of Maitinborough. Miss Betty Gill, of Masterton, is at present visiting Wellington. Mrs. Skerman, with her infant son, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Martin, “Wliaungarua,” Martinborough. • Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Biss have returned to Martinborough from a visit to Masterton. Mrs. Cowper, of Martinborough, with her small son, is paying a visit to her mother, Mrs. G Hume, of Lower Valley. Sir Truby King will be present for the opening ceremony on Thursday of the new Plunket rooms at Martinborough Mr and Mrs. A. T. P. Hubbard have been visiting friends in the Martinborough district. Miss D /Armstrong, of Hawke’s Bay, is staving with Mrs. H. H. Hutchison, Palmerston North.

Mr. and Mrs. F. Zillwood, Carterton, are visiting iriends in Pahiatua. Miss S. Macdonald, Palmerston North, spent the week-end with Mrs R. Payne, Dannevirke.

Miss B. Loughnan has returned to Palmerston North after a short stay in Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. J. Rosenberg, Hastings, have left on a visit to Auckland. Miss K. Holdsworth, Wellington, is staving with Mrs. L. B. Wall, Kairanga. The engagement is announced of Una Mary, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Loudon, Napier, to Dr. Charles Desmond, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Costello, Napier. Mr. and Mrs W. Johnston, of Wellington, who were visiting Palmerston North, are now in Hawke’s Bay. . The engagement is announced 'of Freda, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Bennett, Tangoio, Hawke’s Bay, to Robert Hope, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Milburn, Waipawa. Misses Stella Nicholson and A. McLeod have been selected to play the leading roles in “Princess Chrysanthehium,” to be staged by the Young Women’s Social Club of Martinborough. Miss McAllum was the winner of the ladies’ junior golf championship of Martinborough, and Miss C. Clark run-ner-up Mr. J. W. Littlejohn and Mr. Kitching were the two finalists in the men’s division.

Mrs. R. S. Roydhouse (Carterton) and Mrs. E P. Cameron (Pahaoa) are daughters and Messrs. Alex, and Ken. Sutherland (Hinakura) sons of Mr. and Mrs. David M. Sutherland, Wellington, who recently celebrated their golden wedding. Mrs. A. Morgan has returned to Palmerston North after a visit to Wellington An interesting wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Martinborough, when Frances Rose, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Smith, was married to Jack, son of Mr. and Mrs. H Storey, of Wellington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harcj.ie Friends of the bride had decorated the church beautifully. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was attired in creme tnoracain and gold lace, and carried a bouquet. Miss Freda Storey, in apricot tnl’c, and Miss Ivy Smith, in pale blue nition, attended as bridesmaids. They both carried bouquets to match their frocks. After the ceremonv a reception was held in the Town Hall, where the usual toasts were honoured. Over one hundred guests attended. The bride travelled in a duchess blue suit, with hat to match, and fox furs. Mr. and Mrs. Storey will reside in Wellington. MADAME MENERE IN NEW PLYMOUTH.
