Mr. M. Maxton,'of Gleytown, lias been confined for the last ten days with an attack of influenza. A motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr. 11. J. Dagg was carried at the monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council and recorded in the minutes. Sincere reference was made to the valued servic ’ the deceased gentleman had for a number of years rendered to the general community as a farmer and a councillor. The death has occurred at Masterton of Mr. David McKelvey, sen., of Te Wharau, at the age of 86 years, after a short illness. Deceased, who arrived in New Zealand at an early age, commenced fanning operations at Te Wharau thirty years ago. His wife predeceased him by fifty’ years. He leaves one son, Mr. David McKelvie, jun., of Te Wharau.
Mr H. C. Monro, of Tauranga, was a visitor to Palmerston North over the week end. Mr. A. Knox has returned to Pahiatua from a visit to Rotorua.
Mr. K. Heaton (Hastings) has gone to Hawera for his holidays. Colonel R. St. J. Beere, of Wellington, was in Palmerston North over the week end. Mr G. G. Muir is a Gisborne visitor to Napier. Dr. Shand (Wellington) was a weekend visitor to Palmerston North. Dlr A Ross, of Hastings, is en route to Sydney. Mr J R McLennan (Havelock North) is visiting Palmerston North. Mr. W Thompson has returned to Palmerston North after a trip to the South Island. A SALE OF SALES.
