FIRE AT BROOKLYN
The fire brigade answered a call to the residence of Mrs. Annie Lang, 32 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, at 12.40 p.m. yetserday Slight damage by fire and water was done to a washhouse of two rooms, detached from the main building The fire was caused through sparks from the copper lighting some bedding The house and washhouse are insured in the London, Liverpool, and Globe office for £l2OO. while the furniture is insured in the same office for £285. GOOD SAVE AT ELTHAM. By telegeaph.—Press association Eltham, September 12. A fire at 9.50 this morning partially destroyed a five-roomed house occupied by Mr. G. Diver and owned by Mrs. C. B. Martin, of New Plymouth. It started in the washhouse aud spread to the house. The brigade did excellent work in the face of a high wind. Two tooms were gutted, and the others were damaged by smoke. The insurances were £7OO on the house in the State office and £2OO on the furniture in the Sun office.
