CHILD GORED BY BULL
BADLY INJURED, BUT WILL RECOVER Dominion Special. Christchurch, January 21. This morning l nah Mackie, aged 10 years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Mackie, was gored by a bull iu a field at Cashmere. The child is suffering from shocking injuries, and now lies a patient in Lewisham’Hospital. Her collarbone is broken, her breast and body are injured, and her left arm is torn and lacerated. But for the fact that the bull was tethered to a chain the girl would have been killed; fortunately sne had sufficient strength left to crawl away from the animal. Mr. Mackie’s little daugher is verv fond of animals; the bull was in a field near her home at Cashmere, and it is thought that she went into the field to pat the bull. An operation was performed this afternoon, and the child, who has a sound constitution, will recover, though she is suffering terribly from shock.
