IRON ACROSS LINE
ENGINE OF EXPRESS TRAIN LEAVES RAILS NARROW ESCAPE FROM SERIOUS ACCIDENT (Rec. January 21, 9.55 p.m.) Adelaide, January 21. A serious accident to the MelbourneAdelaide express was narrowly averted to-day, when the front wheels of the engine left the rails near Mount Lofty. Investigation showed that a large piece of iron had been placed across the line, causing the wheels to jump the rails. No one was injured.
