THE SHEEP CLASSES. Many valuable special prizes are listed for the sheep classes at Dannevirke Show on February 9 and 10. There is the 10-guinea Gaisford challenge cup for most points in the purebred classes, a 10-guinea challenge, cup for most points in roinneys,/ and the Hewitt challenge cup for best group Ot three roinney sheep—one two-tooth ram, oiii four-tooth ram, and two-tooth awe. This latter is a new class in the schedule. In Lincolns the Gaisford challenge cup will be competed for for the first time, going (o the best, two-tool h ram. There is also Ibo Southdown breeders’ challenge cup for most points in Southdowns. In the fat sheep Section. the size of the classes for sheep most suitable for freezing has been reduced from five to three. Messrs. Nelson’s (N.Z.) challenge cup goes to the winner of most points in fat sheep and lambs. The fat lamb division . carries so many Special prizes that enumeration is impossible .here. There are three novice classes open for exhibitors who have never won a first prize for fat sheep or lambs in open classes at any A. nnd P. show at time of entry. Ihe Crosse challenge cup goes to the most points in this section. General entries close on January 26. Any information required will be promptly supplied by the secretary (Mr. 11. S. M. Quigley).
