PROTECTING THE PUBLIC
FRUIT PACKING. The amended regulations relating to the packing of fruit and vegetables, which have beej drawn up for the protection of the public, were gazetted on Thursday. “Fruit” is defined as the unmanufactured edible product of any orchard or garden plant, and includes potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and all other vegetables. The amendment provides that all fruit sold or exposed for sale in a container shall be packed in such a manner as t?o fairly represent in size, maturity, and condition the whole contents of the container.
