Eajly in the New Year the main building of the Auckland Hospital will be equipped with a fine wireless set and a number of bead 'nhonee for the patients (reports the "Star ’). This is the beginning of a scheme that is expected finally to embrace every ward in the hospital and thus bring the patients into closn touch with the outside world. The task of equipping the whole hospital with wireless is a somewhat tormidable one when it is considered that each bed will probably have to be fitted with separate head ’phone o . These are necessary in order to avoid tho inconvenience that a loud speaker might cause to patients not in a fit state to listen. In the main building alone there are 184 beds, and the main difficulty to be overcome and also the most costly part, is the wiring. It is proposed; to commence with a few head ’phones and tn increase the number no timo goes on.
