DEATH OF ELDERLY MAN

KNOCKED DOWN BY LORRY. On December 14 a man named Alexander Williamson, aged about 72, a retired railway servant, living at 15 Horner Street, was knocked down by a motor-lorrv near the Basin Reserve. He did not seem to be seriously injured, and was taken home, but later on was removed to the Public Hospital, where he died on December 19. An inquest was commenced yesterday before Mr. R. Page, S.M.', and evidence was given by Dr. Desmond Makgill Frengley, who said that death had been caused by heart failure, brought about by degeneration of the heart muscles, accelerated T>y injuries to the chest wall. li* cccdings were then adjourned siae <.ie pending the procuring of fu.rifcer evidence.
