FARMERS' TROUBLES
DETAILED BY UNION PRESIDENT. By Telegraph.—press association. , Wanganui, December 0. The difficulties which beset the paths of farmers throughout the Dominion were outlined to-day by Mr. W. J. Polson, president oi the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, in a striking address to the Wanganui Rotary Club The address was preliminary to an important rally of North Island farmers here on Thursday next to discuss pressing rural problems Mr Polson drew attention to the need for economy in public expenditure, a better land settlement policy, extension of overseas markets to America and the Orient, and the need for the stabilisation of land values and Lalxiur conditions He suggested drastic penalties for breaches of Labour awards, stating that the present price of primary products did not allow farmers to make both ends meet.
