CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA
MR. GEORGE SHIRTCLIFFE’S FINE DONATION The Reserves Committee recommended to the City Council last evening that the following proposals be submitted to Mr. George Shirtcliffe in connection with his gift of £5OOO for the equipping of children’s play areas:— 1. A play area, with suitable apparatus, to" be equipped in the Grant Road Reserve, at a cost not exceeding £l5OO. 2. A play area, with suitable apparatus, to be equipped in the Central Park at a cost not exceeding £lOOO. . ' / 3. A play area, with suitable apparatus, to be equipped in the Basin Reserve, south-west corner, at a cost not exceeding £5OO. 4. The remaining £2OOO to be retained for subsidising, £1 for £l, .money raised by district .associations . for equipping play areas in their districts. Every such application to be approved bv Mr. Shirtcliffe, and no one association to receive mo.re than £5OO. The proposal was adopted.
