WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP ■ RECORD ROUND BY MISS ’ CHRYSTALL As was the case last year, the rain overnight made the links very heavy tor the opening of the Wellington provincial golf championships, 1 which took place in showery weather at Heretaunsa yesterday. Some great golf, considering the unfavourable conditions, was witnessed m the qualifying round when Miss Dorothy Chrystall (Christchurch), thfe bolder oi the cup, went round in 74, 3 under bogey, and established a record for the course. Her card read: Out; 454334464—37 In: 345533545-37 Miss Chrystall’s putting was splendid throughout, and she was taking only one putt on most of the greens. The previous best score was a long standing one of 75 by Mrs. Stout Miss Chrystall’s handicap is now automatically reduced to I, the lowest ladies handicap in the Dominion. There are no scratch lady players in New Zealand. In the first round of the championship in the afternoon Miss Chrystall beat Mrs. Banks, 9 up and 7. QUALIFYING ROUND.
