AUTOMOBILE CLUB
THE YEAR’S ACTIVITIES. The Wellington Automobile Club finished the year with a membership roll of 1675. and the annual report expresses the opinion that the increase must be considered satisfactory. Reference is made to the. opportunity for extending and widening’the services and utility ot the club, and every member is urged to induce at least one motor-car owner to join in the next twelve months. The net income for the year amounted to A:183 Is. Bd., an improvement on the previous year, notwithstanding increased expenditure. The accumulated fund now stands at X'1460 Bs. 7d. Owing to the arrangements made during the past year for securing new members, the expenses turned out to be abnormally high, but the committee states that such a recurrence of expenditure will not be repeated. as arrangements have now been made whereby the club will pay for the results only. , . , . Reference is made to this year s issue of the guide book, which is now in the hands of the printers, and the com mittee. observes that it is pleasing to note that the book is valued by other than local motorists. The membership of the Palmerston North branch now stands at 121, but the committee is of opinion that this number can be very materially increased in the near future. In a few months it is expected that a marked improvement will be made in regard to the erection of signboards at points of danger. In regard to kerbside pumps, the report states that the committee is on the point of making investigations as to the quantity of petrol. supplied from pomps, and also the price.
