WOMEN GRADUATES
RAPID INCREASE AT OXFORD VICE-CHANCELLOR ALARMED (Rec. October 18, 5.5 p.m.) London. October 13. The Vice-Chancellor of Oxford in a valedictory Latin oration, specially referred to the association of the Queenslander Stephenson and another student with Communism, declaring that he was glad neither of the students, who were associated in an illegal conspiracy, was an Englishman. The ViceChancellor went on tn express alarm at the rapid increase in women graduates, saying: “I did my utmost to secure tlie admission of. - women degrees. I do not regret it. but nobodv foresaw that women - would, as they at present do, total one-fifth of our students ” He pleaded that the . number of women must be legally limited.
