WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES At the morning call yesterday a sale of Bank of Ac* Zealand shares at 61s. (id. was made on 'Change, and another sale also at 61s. 6<l. was reported. A sale of National Bank shares at £7 Is. was reported. At the afternoon call the sales reported were 5 per cent. P.O. stock at £l)9, and C. M. Banks ordinary shares at 235. There was a very good demand for Government stocks and bonds, with bids of £96 10s. for tho 4J per cents., £9B 15s. for the 5 per cents., and £99 15s. tor the 5.1 per cents. Bank shares were firm, but the demand was restricted to Bank of New Zealand at 61s. 3d., English, Scottish and Australian Bank at £8 2s. 6d., and Western Australian Bank at 575. Financial shares were also very firm, with buyers of Equitable Building at £9 2s. 6d., Wellington Trust and Loan at £6 7s. 6d., a rise of 6d., N.Z. Guarantee Corporation at 10s., Wellington Investment at 10s. 5d.» and Wellington Deposit at 9s. 6d. Wellington Gas ordinary shares were firm at 265. 6d. Shipping shares were steady, with buyers of N.Z. Shipping, preference, at £8 17s. 6d., and Union Steam, preference, at 20s. Id. Kelburn Tram ordinary shares were firm at 265. 6d.' Wellington Woollen shares were unchanged at £6 7s. Coal and timber shares were neglected, and there were no declared buyers. Brewery shares were firm. There were bids of 395. 6d. for Manning and Co.’s shares, and 535. 9d. for N.Z. Breweries shares, the latter showing an advance of 9d. Dental and Medical Supply shares at 16s. 9d. were 3d. higher.
