POWER BOARD INCOME
ESTIMATE WILL BE EXCEEDED Palmerston North, July 12. In commenting at to-day’s meeting of the' Manawatu-Oroua Power Board on the collections for current for the quarter, the chairman (Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P.) said that taking into consideration the time of the year when farm motors were not being 'used, the position was very, gratifying, and it was most likely that the estimate of £4300 would bo exceeded. Mr. M. A. Eliott remarked that it was recognised the last three months were the worst, and it was very satisfactory to know that such a large sum as £lO,OOO had been collected for the quarter. The chairman added that as far as the estimates were concerned, the revenue would be nearer £50,000 than £43.000. The figures for the quarter are as follow, those for the corresponding months of last year being given in parentheses: -April, £5051 16s. lid. (£2488 Ils. lid.); May, £2039 Bs. Bd. (.£l2lO 9s. lOd.); June, .£3293 10s. 7d. (£22143 Is. 2d.); total, £lO,384 16s. 2d. (£5,962 2s. lid.).
