LABOUR OPPOSITION TO REFERENDUM •’ Sydney, June 20. Although the State officials of the Australian Workers’ Union are unanimous in their opposition to the Federal Government’s referendum proposals. the general president of the union, Senator Barner, has announced his intention of supporting the referendum on the question of the regulation of industry and commerce. The Australian Labour Party suspended the ex-president of the party, Mr. E. C. Magrath, from ■ his position «s one of the State representatives on the Federal Executive. The charge against him was that he had flouted the orders of the State Executive in not unconditionally opposing the referendum proposals at recent meetings of the Federal Executive.—Aus.-N.Z.
