MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND. SUMMONS CASES Dlr. W. G. Riddell, S.DL, dealt with police and summons cases, in the Dlagistrate’s Court yesterday. For a breach of his prohibition order, James Paterson Dloar was fined £l, in default three days’ imprisonment, and for drunkenness he was convicted and discharged. _ Teretu Ura, a young Dlaon student, who pleaded guilty_ to stealing jewellery and other articles to the total value of £l2 Is., was remanded until this morning for sentence. . For using obscene language Patrick Darcy, alias Dennis Twomey, was' fined £l. Refusing to leave the Central Hotel when requested to do so resulted in his being fined a like amount. For drunkenness he was convicted and discharged. John De Lacey Crowley, alias John Clifford Crowley, was fined £2 for a breach of his prohibition order. For a fourth offence of drunkenness he was fined £l. Thomas Robson and James Coleman, who appeared on a charge of being
“found by night without lawful excuse, but in circumstances not disclosing the intent of any other cause” in a shed on the Hutt Road, were convicted and discharged. The Magistrate remarked that he would give accused a chance to leave the city at once and find' employment. For drunkenness John Edward Byrne was fined £l, while for a breach of his prohibition order he was convicted and discharged. SUMDIONS CASES.
Ben Hakaria, a . Maori, who .was charged with breaking an electric light globe valued at ss. in the Britannia Hotel, was fined £1 with costs. Walter Campbell White, prohibited by a conviction from attending a racecourse, pleaded guilty to a charge of being found unlawfully ou the Hutt Racecourse during a recent trotting meeting. Fie was fined £1 and costs.
