GIRLS’ COLLEGE

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Girls’ College Parents’ Association was held on Thursday, Air. G. Alitchell presiding. The report noted with satisfaction that the authorities had agreed to the title of the Wellington Girls’ College, although the Board of Governors, still officially adhered to their old designation. The association trusted that if legislation were required to effect a change in the title of -the board, it would be introduced when the other necessary amendments were being made. It was hoped that no more sessions of Parliament would be allowed to pass without that being done. The report urged the acquisition of an area of ground occupied by several very old buildings adjoining the college grounds and fronting Murphy Street. That it was considered would make a valuable addition to the college, particularly as the present grounds were much too small for such a large school. Alembers expressed their appreciation of the services rendered by Miss AlcLean as principal. With respect to the programme for the coming year, the meeting agreed that the work of preparing the ground for three additional tennis courts should be proceeded with at once. The association’s share of the cost had already been handed to the Board of Governors, and the board would be a*ked to carry out the work as soon, as possible. The following officers were elected: — President, Air. G. Alitchell; vice-presi-dents. Alessrs. R. W. de Alontalk and G. L. Stewart, Alessrs. C. J. B. Norwood, W. J. W. Anderson, G. L.
