WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL

Carterton, March 29. The Wairarapa South County Council met on Saturday at Carterton, Councils lor T. V. Moore presiding. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £19,971 9s. 9d., and receipts for the month to be £146 16s. 2d. Accounts totalling £1526 Ils. 9d. were passed tor payment. Legal advice was received that ths erection of the Kokotau bridge could bq proceeded with under the provisions of section 119 of the Public Works Act. The chairman was appointed delegate to the Counties’ Conference at Wellington in July. , . The Highways Council advised that m the issue of motor drivers’ licenses that if the endorsement ordered by the Court, to be inserted on a license applied to any subsequent licenses, then that cn- . dorsement must be inserted in the new; license. , , The Public Works Department inquired whether motor-lorry owners were furnishing the particulars under regulation 16 as to the distance travelled ana the controlling authorities’ area. It was decided to reply that a large number of the lorries using the county roads ara legistcred in the Wellington city. . The ranger reported having dealt wita 25 head of stock. ■ It was decided that Nix’s bridge. b« renewed in concrete. Application is to; be made to the Minister of Finance tor permission to obtain money to proceed with work on the main road, in accordance with the engineer’s estimate. It was decided to complete the repairs to Belvedere Road.
