UNIVERSITIES TEAM ARRIVES By Telegraph.—Press Association , Auckland, March 29. The British Universities Debating Team arrived by the Aorangi last night. The members are: Messrs. P. Reed, King’s College, London; R. N. May, of Birmingham University; H. E. Molson, of New College, Oxford, and T. P. McDonald, Edinburgh University. They will leave for Dunedin on Monday evening. The team, which was organised by the .National Union of Students of England, Scotland, and Wales, sailed from England on January 2 for Canada. They visited most of the large towns in Canada, and all the principal universities, and engaged in debate on about twenty occasions, being adjudged winners of all but three. Asked if they hoped their visit to the Dominions would be returned, Mr. Reed said that so far as New Zealand was concerned, it was a question of British students making up the leeway. Rhodes scholars had long been ambassadors of New Zealand, and they were well liked and popular among English students The delegation will leave for Sydney on April 23, and after touring Australia they will return to England. Mr. Reed is a journalist, Mr. Mav a scientist, and Messrs. Molson and McDonald are pursuing the law.
