A WITHDRAWAL.. , By Teleckai’H. — Pußss \ssociation. Auckland, March 26. Mr. J. Rae has retired from the Eden by-election contest. LABOUR’S CAMPAIGN OPENED. Auckland, March 26. The Labou candidate for Eden, Mr. H. G. R. Mason, delivered his first address at Henderson to-night. The night was wet, and only about thirty people were present. The candidate said the most interesting feature of the election so far was the differences which had arisen in the Reform Party’s ranks. He referred to the Government’s overwhelming majority, and. urged . the electors to strengthen the Opposition. Labour was the real Opposition. Votes of thanks and confidence were carried.
