SWORDFISH LEAPS OVER LAUNCH By Tblbgbafh.—Press Association. Auckland, February 15. Advice from Russell indicates that on Saturday Colonel and Mrs. Sparrow, visitors from England, had a narrow escape in the launch Phyllis. They had a swordfish hooked and after it had been flayed for some time it made straight for the launch. Colonel and irs. Sparrow jumped out of the way, and the boatman, who saw what was coming, opened the throttle of the endive a little. The swordfish leaped right across the launch, broke the line and got away. Nine big game fish were caught last Friday. Mr. Zane Grey getting three 'swordfish, turning the scales at 2081 b., 2241 b. and 2341 b. Mr. Grey also caught a large brown shark weighing 7000 b. Vine bic game fish were also caught on Saturday. Mr> S. Ludbrook, of Gisborne caught two swordfish of 211 lb. and 2561 b.. and Mr. Mason Bayly, of Orakawa, two swordfish of 2321 b. and 2601 b.
