PETROLEUM INDUSTRY
TREMENDOUS GROWTH Washington, February 12. The tremendous growth of the petroleum industry is shown by the analysis of the operations for 1925 issued by the Bureau of Mines of the Department of Commerce. Practically all former records have been broken in the consumption and production of crude oil, petrol, and other products. The world output of crude oil in 1925 was 1060 million barrels, an increase of 5| per cent, over 1924, largely due to an increase of 50 million barrels in the United States, where the 1925 production W’as 764 million barrels. The output of motor fuels for 1925 was approximately 11,240 million gallons, of which total the United States refineries produced 21 per cent, more than in 1924, namely, 10,886 million gallons. The domestic consumption was 9362 million gallons, and the exported quantity 1330 million gallons.—Aus.-N.Z. Calile Assn.
