PALMERSTON’S JUBILEE
PREPARING FOR CELEBRATIONS.
“Dominion” Special.
Palmerston North, February 15. The jubilee of the Palmerston Borough occurs at mid-winter, 1927. At to-night’s meeting of the Borough Council the Mayor (Mr. Nathan) suggested that a celebration should be held tn February or March next year, when the weather'would be more suitable. Money should be set aside for the function in framing next year’s estimates, and a "come back to Palmerston” campaign should be inaugurated. The Mayor also pointed out that Palmerston would probably be a city by that time. Other speakers spoke in favour of the proposal, and it was decided to ask various local bodies in the district to co-operate. On the suggestion of Councillor Eliott it was decided to write to the A. and P. Society, suggesting that a show be held on the 1 occasion of the jubilee.
