ENGINEER DROWNED’

Auckland, February 15.
Gordon Louis Ansenne, aged 34 years, second engineer on tiie cable steamer Iris, was drowned at Waiwera on Sunday. He was on a cruise in a launch. With three other men he attended a dance and left about 12.30 a.m. to board the launch. He went down the steps to untie tne painter, slipped and fell into the water, probably striking his head on the steps. When ho was recovered life was extinct.
