TOWN CLERK AND CITY ENGINEER

OVERSEAS APPLICATIONS CLOSE IN LONDON. The question was raised by Councillor .7. Aston, at last night’s meeting of the Wellington City Council, as to what chance applicants overseas would have for the position of town clerk, and also of city engineer if the time for receiving applications closed on March 1. It was explained by the Mayor (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) that so long as applications were in thff hands of the council’s London agents by March 1 it would be quite all right. There had to be a definite closing date, but it did not necessarily follow that applications would be considered immediately after. Some time might slapse before their consideration. '
