BLIZZARD IN UNITED STATES
FOOT OF SNOW IN NEW YORK 12 DEATHS REPORTED (Rec. February 11, 5.5 p.m.) New York, February 10. The second blizzard within a week has swept the Mil-Western and North Atlantic States. Another foot of snow has fallen in New York, and the fall is not finished yet All transportation is delayed, and s ome entirely suspended. ..While the temperature is below zero in New England and Northern New York, with increased suffering, the winds attained a fifty-mile velocity. Twelve deaths have already been reported from street and maritime accidents and exposure - Tlie Department of Agriculture’s officials state that both storms will be beneficial to farmers, as the blanket of snow which now covers the winter wheat, oats, and rye crops will prevent freezing.—Aus.-N.Z.
