SHORTER WORKING WEEK
CAUSES HIGHER CHARGES. Sydney, Januarj’ 21. The forty-four-hour week has been responsible for an advance of 3d. per thousand feet in gas, to ss. 7d. a 1000 cubic feet.
In consequence of the introduction of the forty-four-hour week, and the resultant increased cost of handling and distribution of dairy produce, the Selling Agents’ Association announced .that the charges would be increased from 25 to 50 per cent.—Press Assn.
