OFFICIAL TOUR OF INVESTIGATION.
London, January 20. The Hon. AV. G. Ormsby-Gore, Col-
onial Under-Secretary, accompanied by the Hon. C. Rhys," M.P., and two Colonial Office officials, has left London en route for West Africa for a comprehensive investigation of the West Coast colonies and protectorates, especially directed at the questions of transport development, health, and sanitation and agriculture. An important aspect is that of palm oil, as to which there will be an. endeavour to reconcile native land policy with the necessity for meeting the competition of the Congo Free State and Sumatra.—Reuter.
