YEARLING SALE
GOOD PRICE FOR ELDERS-
LIE YOUNGSTERS
Mr. T. G. Duncan, who .recently transferred his well-known Waikanac Stud to Elderslie, in the South Island, held his first sale of yearlings from that famous birthplace of thoroughbred stock in Wellington yesterday, the auctioneers being Messrs. Pyne, Gould, Guinness and Company, of Christchurch. The sale was favoured by a very large attendance, quite the largest that has been seen at bloodstock sales for some time, and the prices obtained were good, the bidding being keen. Nine tots were offered, and all were disposed of for a grand total of 4700 guineas, an average of just over 522 guineas per lot. Top prices were given for the last two youngsters offered, Mr. W. H. Gaisford, owner of the crack two-year-old Commendation, going to 900 guineas before he secured a colt (first foal), by Kilbroney from Fulsome, own sister to. Humbug and Epitaph. Mr. Vivian Riddiford paid 800 guineas ior a colt by Kilbroney from Bonnie Maid (halfsister to Ladoga and winner of the Great Northern Oaks and St. Leger). Details of the sale are as follow-
